Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman have returned with the fourth installment in their celebrated Lice series, Miami Lice: Season 4. Spanning eight tracks, the EP finds the duo operating at the peak of their abilities, trading dense, inventive bars over production, this time handled entirely by Aesop, that encompasses brooding synth-driven atmospheres and proto-funk bass set to drum tracks that alternate from stark heaviness to head-nodding buoyancy. The opening track, "Who Sent You," is a great example of the latter and serves as an excellent foreshadowing of what to expect on the EP: a blend of humor, clever writing, and an abundance of style, qualities that reach their pinnacle when the two trade bars back and forth on standout track "Burnt Mauve."

Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman are a natural pair, both regarded as top-tier lyricists who consistently push the limits of language and expression. More importantly, they are close friends whose chemistry makes the music feel effortless. Their partnership began simply: a shared admiration that deepened when Aesop invited Sandman on tour in 2015. What started as camaraderie on the road led to the surprise release of the first Lice EP later that year. Its warm reception sparked a continuing series that stands among the most energized and cohesive work in their respective catalogs.
Miami Lice: Season 4 continues that legacy with sharp writing, unforced collaboration, and a clear love of the craft.
