In the mythical world of Daniel Dumile (aka MF DOOM), sex, drugs, violence, art, and culture tended to collide in funny ways. Taking its name from the sweet, hot water cornmeal patties whose origins can be traced back to pre-colonial America, “Hoe Cakes” is one of DOOM’s finest and most delightfully strange moments on wax. Over a breezy, nostalgic beat, DOOM waxes poetically about a casual situationship, his lyrics peppered with his trademark non-sequiturs.

Originally released in 2004 as a single from DOOM’s masterful full-length, MM..FOOD, the classic 12" single has now been reissued on specially colored vinyl, with its original artwork and track list intact, including the Count Bass D produced classic, “Potholderz” and a “Hoe Cakes Remix” from Ant! Full of dryly funny one-liners, and a stream-of-consciousness style, “Hoe Cakes” is high art from the mind of our most beloved supervillain.
